1) Why did you start CrossFitting and how long have you been doing it for?

My mom got me into it! I did my first workout when I was 14, in the Summer of 2017 with mom who has been doing it for 6 years. It was a team workout which I did with her and I loved it right away!

2) What is your favourite part about CrossFit?

Definitely the community. Everyone was so nice and welcoming on my first day and I’m so glad that my mom dragged me into. Everytime I walk into CFBC, it feels like I’m going to my second family and not just a regular gym where there’s awkward silence all around. I’ve got to build so many friendships and relationships with all the coaches and athletes that I wouldn’t trade for the world. They also all inspired me to achieve my CF-L1 certification in 2019.

3) Have you ever competed?

Over the years I’ve participated in the 2018 and 2019 CrossFit Open and the CFBC Summer and Winter Team challenges.

4) What are your goals when it comes to your

CrossFit training?

My current goal is to continue building a healthy balance between my first year in University (majoring in Criminology) with training, work, family and friends, and mindful nutrition.

5) Have you ever changed anything with regards to your nutrition since you started CrossFit?

I would definitely say that I have switched up my nutrition since I started CrossFit, and for the better. Mahyar introduced me to macronutrients and I have been working with Chloe for quite a bit now. I’ve learned how to be more mindful when it comes to what meals I’m eating and what fuels my body best. Chloe has taught me that not everyday is going to be perfect, but not to give up and to trust the process, and reminds me to eat protein with each meal haha.

6) Is there something that people would be surprised to know about you?

Two things that always shock people are when I tell them that I’m 18 and that I was born in Europe, not sure why but those always get everyone. Another fun fact is that I’ve always loved being in water since I was little and my parents put me in competitive swimming, which I was a part of for a good 10 years, which gave me the nickname H2O at CFBC.

7) What/who inspires you the most?

My parents! I moved to Canada with my parents when I was 3 and half and since day one both of them have worked so hard to build an amazing life for my younger brother and I. They’ve taught me everything I need to know about life and what is ahead of me and how to tackle everything that comes my way 😉

8) What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting CrossFit?

Just come! For new members it’s always intimidating and hard to understand what you’re even doing at first, but CFBC has such an amazing community of members and coaches that will always be by your side to push your limits and motivate you.

9) Do you have a random hidden talent?

During quarantine I discovered that I am oddly good at needlepointing.

10) If you could pick a lift and a gymnastics movement, what would be your favourite?

My favorite lift would have to be snatches, either power or squat and then my favourite gymnastics movement would have to be handstand pushups and double unders.
