1. When did you join CrossFit BC?
I joined CrossFit BC in February 2022.
2. Why did you choose CrossFit?
It is actually a funny story. During the later half of the year 2018 I was getting really bored with working out at a conventional gym and was looking for something new. I turned to kickboxing and decided to go for a trial session at a facility but due to some miscommunication I ended up going there an hour early only to find out that the place was actually a CrossFit box which provided space for kickboxing sessions. Since I was there early I joined in for the trial session, really liked it and decided to do CrossFit. I like to be dramatic and say “CrossFit chose me.” Hahahaha!!!
3. What changes in your health, physique and overall performance have you seen since starting CrossFit?
One of the biggest changes is that shopping has become a pain. My previous size is a bit tight and a size bigger is loose. Well, this is just me saying that I have gotten muscular in a cooler way. I have definitely gotten stronger, my cardio is better than it used to be. I have learnt skills which I never thought I would be able to do. Mentally as well I am able to tackle workouts which I would never imagine trying previously.
4. What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting CrossFit?
Don’t think too much. Just start. It is for everyone.
5. What is your favourite CrossFit exercise?
Cleans. It feels super cool when the lift is well executed.
6. What is your favourite activity outside of CrossFit?
Oh there are so many. Eating yummy stuff, playing football (Soccer) , watching movies and TV shows, gaming, hanging out with people.
7. What is your proudest accomplishment at CrossFit?
The one and only time when I beat Harrison Gregory in a workout. It was echo bike sprints for cals. I beat him by 1 cal. That was a good day.
8. Have you made any changes to your diet?
Yeah, since joining CrossFit and shifting to a vegetarian diet I have started living the tofu veggies life. One of my meals, everyday, is a tofu veggie stir fry. I now know numerous ways of making tofu veggies stir fry. During 2021 I was tracking my macros and calories but I am not doing that anymore. Also, I am now able to enjoy desserts and sweets without feeling guilty.
9. Is there something that people would be surprised to know about you?
THAT I DO WEAR SHOES AND OWN MULTIPLE PAIRS. LOL!
There are a few more things which might actually be interesting:
⁃ My standard cheese sandwich consists of 6 cheese slices and I don’t grill it.
⁃ When I was really young, I got bit by a monkey and have since then been petrified of them.
⁃ I was a part of my high school dance team (Yeeeeeeeah, I did contemporary)
10. What/who inspires you the most?
My mother inspires me the most. She is the reason I got into fitness and started working out. If it wasn’t for her I would’ve never reached where I am in my current fitness journey. She has always bounced back at CrossFit even after tearing her meniscus in 2020. Irrespective of her soreness because of the workouts she always goes the extra step in whatever she does whereas at the same time my brother and I would be crying and complaining about it.
