1) When did you join CrossFit BC?
I started drinking the koolaid in Oct of 2011 so I still have my training wheels on 😉

2) Why did you choose CrossFit?
I started Crossfit because I was bored with the regular training I was doing, and it never seemed to be enough of a challenge. A friend had recently joined Brick Crossfit in Weho and was loving it, and knew I would too.. so I checked out the crossfit affiliates on the Northshore, walked into the West Van location where James and Dan basically told me that’s where I belonged having known me before…a complete addict the first week, despite JimmyZ trying to kill me..I don’t think I got “bootcamp”!

3) What changes in your health, physique and overall performance have you seen since starting CrossFit?
I have always been pretty fit, but crossfit continues to be a fascinating journey from a physiological perspective. Fitter and healthier than I have ever been, and continue to find myself being able to do things I’ve never been able to do before! As a result…I have a closet full of clothes that don’t fit!! Darn..I have to go shopping!

4) What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting CrossFit?
Crossfit may seem daunting to those just looking at it from the outside, but it is the most inclusive, supportive and “scaleable” form of fitness I have experienced, for ALL ages, all abilities and fitness levels from teenagers to very senior seniors!!

5) What is your favourite CrossFit exercise?
Burpees and Wallballs !! Haha! I still have a long list of goats to kill..but probably Helen, Cindy or anything with front/back squat or deadlift.

6) What is your favourite activity outside of CrossFit?
Hiking or trail running especially when it is a new adventure somewhere else!!

7) What is your proudest accomplishment at CrossFit?
Every PR I get!! Most recently the 13.4 workout…having had to use a dowel a good part of the year after a minor tear in my rotator cuff and NEVER been able to do a 95 pound clean and jerk.. and until recently T2B .. I was thrilled to post my 11 reps!! Can’t wait for next years Crossfit Open!!

8) Have you made any changes to your diet?
Yes, a few..I eat cleaner, more..and almost anything I want sensibly.

9) Is there something that people would be surprised to know about you?
Yes, lots…but I don’t know you that well! lol Most people are surprised when I tell them I have 4 kids and how old they are…and that I am likely the biggest kid of all !

10) What/who inspires you the most?
Past, I would hands down say my grandmother who was the epitome of grace through the best of times and the worst adversities. Present, my kids and their amazing friends who challenge how I think, and who I am every day.. and not to get all Rah Rah but I absolutely LOVE this community of Crossfit, and the many who make it so easy to leave everything else outside the door, and bring the best “me” to the box with the likeminded people I WOD with!! Just love them!! Even better…the people I am most inspired by are Crossfit addicts now too!
