1. When did you join CrossFit BC?
Around last August so its been about 8 months. Trying to go 4 times per week. SugarWOD is awesome to track progress. And I love watching how we all rank every-day. Kinda hate all the guys that beat me every day. #inspiring. #tryharder

2. Why did you choose CrossFit?
Well I have always been a workout guy, but I am way more successful in a training situation with a coach pushing me to higher levels of intensity. I remember I used to walk by CrossFit BC and it looked completely awesome, but I was also intimidated when i saw the olympic lifting going on. I remember Sophie convincing me to come try. Thanks Sophie!

3. What changes in your health, physique and overall performance have you seen since starting CrossFit?
It’s quite remarkable how different I feel. Stronger, faster, thicker, more agile, solid on my feet, etc, etc. The strength gains are the most surprising to me. Hit lots of PR’s which is completely rewarding. How this all comes together is a huge difference in my skiing stamina and strength. Let’s go.

4. What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting CrossFit?
It really hard to appreciate the ethos of CrossFit, until you are in the team environment. I never anticipated the sense of community, support, and camaraderie of the entire experience. It’s fantastic. So not only do you get in the best shape of your life, and get professional coaching, but you develop a bond with your CrossFit pals which is pretty great. CrossFit is really one the highlights of my day. My advice would be to come out and give it a go.

5. What is your favourite CrossFit exercise?
Strict handstand pushups. I like the combination of agility and the brutal strength this requires. Yeehaw!

6. What is your favourite activity outside of CrossFit?

Skiing is my passion. Skiing is my passion. Skiing is my passion… Leg’s don’t fail me now. Oh by the way, don’t do CrossFit 4 days in a row and then go skiing. Legs failed!

7. What is your proudest accomplishment at CrossFit?
That is a hard one to pin point. CrossFit is about so many small victories linked one after another. Some days I can’t even believe how much weight I am lifting. I think I am most surprised when I see the weights we are pounding on the EMOM’s, whether it be Thrusters, Deadlifts, Push Presses, etc. Bring it!

8. Have you made any changes to your diet?
Not really, we eat really good food, protein and veggies, repeat… but we also eat pie and ice cream, and a wee bit of wine. I think small indulgences are good in life.

9. Is there something that people would be surprised to know about you?
Yeah, I’m 55 years old. Fuck!

10. What/who inspires you the most?
Jayboy, Chris, Mayhem, Braiden, Tyler, Gabe, Sophie, Amy, Rob, Troy. You all rock! Thank you.
