20130926-164331.jpg1. When did you join CrossFit BC?
October 2009

2. Why did you choose CrossFit?
I had been participating in a few outdoor bootcamp classes when our instructor at the time had to end his business abruptly for the 2010 Winter Olympics. At the same time one of my work colleagues mentioned some Crazy Workout Classes that her friend does called Crossfit. I googled it (as you do) and at the time the closest CF gym to me and with the best schedule was CFBC. It was very different from anything else out there which really
peaked my curiosity so I decided to come in for my free class after which I signed up for Foundations with Danny (Wolverine) that same day. I have not looked back since and could not imagine doing anything else.

3. What changes in your health, physique and overall performance have you seen since starting CrossFit?
Oh wow where to start! Crossfit allows me to do whatever activity I want whenever I want. Ski season starts, Im ready. Lets hike The Lions, Lake Garibaldi, Wedgemount its easy. Mountain Bike, road bike, run 5km, run 10km…….Done! It makes the rest of my life easy and fun with a strong and healthy body and It may be just luck but I think CrossFit has definitely made this pregnancy caper easier too.

4. What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting CrossFit?
Do not be afraid or intimidated by what you see and hear. CrossFit is welcoming to everyone at any stage of their life or fitness level. We love newbies!!

5. What is your favourite CrossFit exercise?
Handstand Pushups but I also love squat cleans

6. What is your favourite activity outside of CrossFit?
Skiing, biking, hiking and having coffee with my CrossFit BFF’s

7. What is your proudest accomplishment at CrossFit?
It sounds silly now, but having the courage to register and compete in the CFBC Summer Challenge last year. I had so much fun that I regret not competing in previous years and am now really looking forward to getting back, post baby, and registering next year!! Fingers crossed.

8. Have you made any changes to your diet?
I started CrossFit a vegetarian, which then changed last year back to omnivore and at the same time I started Paleo. The change to Paleo (albeit a bit modified as I still would eat rice and have treats from time to time) really changed my physique and although the scale did not really change my clothing and muscle tone surely did and it was surprisingly good for my digestive system. Now, during pregnancy though I have reverted back to eating a broad food diet including complex carbs.

9. Is there something that people would be surprised to know about you?
French was one of the first languages I spoke as a child.

10. What/who inspires you the most?
My mother, she instilled in me from a young age the importance of balancing your life between fitness, emotional/psychological wellbeing, nutrition and family. This inspiration continues even now as she has just registered for her 2nd 500km bike race in Australia at the age of 62. (In her 60th year she rode an 800km race over 7 days). Im not sure I could do that!!
