1. When did you join CrossFit BC?
July 2015.

2. Why did you choose CrossFit?
I was a National-Level gymnast and competed in the sport for 10 years although decided to move on this past summer. My brother, Leland, was currently attending CrossFit BC and really enjoying it so I decided to give it a try to maintain my fitness. Coming from gymnastics, I was still interested in challenging myself and CrossFit allows me to do that every class.

3. What changes in your health, physique and overall performance have you seen since starting CrossFit?
Staying active is really important to me and CrossFit has allowed me to not only keep my strength and flexibility but improve it. Before CrossFit, I had never done weight lifting movements although through CrossFit and the coaches, I feel I have really built up my strength. From my first few months I already feel a lot stronger and can’t wait to continue to improve.

4. What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting CrossFit?
I would tell them to not only come to the classes but get involved with the people as they are extremely welcoming and helpful. From the coaches to the entire community, they have all helped me make my transition from gymnastics to CrossFit as enjoyable and smooth as possible.

5. What is your favourite CrossFit exercise?
Anything but Wall Balls! My favourite exercise would be bar muscle ups.

6. What is your favourite activity outside of CrossFit?
I am an extremely sporty person and due to all my free time that was taken away from gymnastics before, I am now able to experiment with a wide variety of sports, my favourite so far being Field Hockey.

7. What is your proudest accomplishment at CrossFit?
My proudest accomplishment would be my ring muscle up and being Athlete of the Month. These accomplishments will defiantly inspire me to keep improving.

8. Have you made any changes to your diet?
Coming from a high intensity sport where I needed to maintain a balanced diet, I haven’t noticed any major changes although continuing to keep a healthy diet makes a huge difference in my overall performance and motivation.

9. Is there something that people would be surprised to know about you?
I was born in Mexico, and lived in Australia and Chile. Also, I hate celery with a passion!

10. What/who inspires you the most?
The people at CrossFit BC inspire me the most as they are extremely dedicated and can do crazy stuff!
